Salma Hayek Pinault was a Mexican American and former television actress and model. She started her professional career in Mexico, where she acted in the telenoverna Teresa and also starred in the feature film El Callejón de Los Milagros, which she later was nominated for an Ariel Award at the MTV Awards. Salma then went on to play different characters in different movies before landing roles on some television shows in the United States, most notably in an episode of the sitcom Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Salma would then move on to Hollywood where she would star as the character of “Miguel” in the movie The Mask. Though this movie did not do well critically, it still managed to earn Salma an Academy Award for her work in it. Salma then went on to star in a number of other popular films including Something to Remember, Take It Easy, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. However, among these films, her role as the rebellious teenage girl from the 1980’s Mexican cartoon, Coraline, is perhaps her most famous.
Salma Hayek’s voice has always been characterized as soft and soothing with a tendency to mumble at the ends of her lines. However, when you hear her speaking in her various interviews, you can clearly notice that her pronunciation is quite different. One example is in the interview given to Nicolae Ceausescu, in which she speaks very softly yet manages to sound like she is telling the boss a million things. When Salma does speak to Nicolae, she speaks normally but when she says that she’s going to get something nice for dinner, Nicolae replies that she doesn’t have to eat it, he will pay for it.

This may sound like a minor point, but it is certainly an unforgettable moment in every episode of Salma Hayek’s illustrious telenovela, Hilaria. Although, many people might think that Salma is the stereotypical type of girl, who only speaks her mind in the end, I disagree. Salma Hayek’s brilliant performance as Hilaria, is why I believe that the character of Hilaria should never be categorized into any stereotypical qualities. The telenovela was very successful not only because of its excellent storyline and performances by Salma Hayek, but also because of the chemistry between the two actresses. They just clicked together so well that I felt like they were making a movie together, which is more than what an average acting job would give you.
Salma Hayek has also gone on to star in some other successful acting careers, which include appearances in a number of Hollywood blockbuster movies. She has appeared in such movies as The Pursuit of Happyness (with Bill Murray), Stuck by My Man (with Jeff Bridges), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (with Steve Martin). All of these roles helped Salma develop her excellent acting skills. Other roles that she has been able to get into include playing the wife of Michael Jackson in Thriller, as well as the mother in Stand By Me.
Salma Hayek has also received numerous honors for her outstanding performances throughout her career, which include four Primetime Emmy Awards, a Screenplay Academy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards. These accomplishments made Salma one of the most popular and best known Mexican actresses of all time. She is certainly one of the best ever to grace the world of international film festival award shows.
