Christopher Ruben Studdard was born in Harlem, New York City. He is now based in London, England. In 1996, he moved to Los Angeles where he appeared in such films as The Game, Crazy Heart, and The Pursuit of Happyness. Now he is known primarily for his role as Max Rockwell in the British film, The Man Who Stare at Goats.

Ruben Studdard was born to parents who were of Irish decent. His father, John Studdard, played football for the Detroit Lions of the NFL, and his mother, Anna Studdard, sang for The Supremes. It was this stage of his life that he would develop an interest in acting, and he would spend much of his free time acting in Birmingham, Alabama with the likes of Paul Newman, Dan Aykroyd, and Richard Burton.

In 1996, Studdard became a contestant on the popular American Idol show, and he was quickly becoming a fan favorite. However, he failed to win any of the contests that year, and it was after American Idol that he would finally win his second American Idol crown. Winning the contest not only increased his popularity but also became a source of media attention and he began receiving calls from various media outlets asking for interviews about his victory over Craig Ballentine.

During the second season of American Idol, Ruben Studdard received a grammy award for Best Male R&B Performance. He previously won a Grammys in 1997 for Best Rap Album. It is hard to determine exactly how many people in America are familiar with the name “Ruben Studdard” due to the fact that he is a singer/songwriter/actor hailing from Brooklyn, New York. In 2021, he was one of four people to receive a grammy award for the best male duet album.

After a short stint with the band Smurfie Syco, standard joined forces with hip-hop artist Killer Mike and the hip-hop/rap act War Boys for some time. From there he went on to form his own solo project named Scooby-Doo 2. After releasing one album with Mike and two albums with the band War Boys, he decided to take things in a different direction and recorded a third album called Surata Zuri. After that album, he went back to acting and did voice work for the animated film Kung Pow Enter the Fist, and a couple of Disney movies. In 2021, he released another solo album titled No Way Out.

In late 2021, he was one of the judges on American Idol when Tom Cruise asked him to sing the song “Sorry,” which topped the ratings. He ended up winning the competition. The success of Ruben Studdard has allowed him to sign deals with several different companies including Diplo Records, Gold Coin Entertainment, and Cash Money Records. All of which have enabled him to create several well sold albums and singles. His most recent release was entitled Soulful.
