Karla Camila Cabello is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter known for her unique sound, fast-paced music and sensuous lyrics. She rose to stardom as part of the band Fifth Harmony, which she first joined in the middle of 2021. The group went through several lineup changes before ultimately settling on a lineup of seasoned veterans including Lucia Mendoza, Jararina Villanueva and Rica Shelton. She has since then gone on to have several successful singles, including “Xo Tour Loca” and “Hips Don’t Lie”. In addition to her solo work, she has also recorded with groups such as Purity Ring, Sky – Riders of the Storm and reformedgrass band Skylight.
In her native Cuba, family cabello has performed her songs at cultural events and celebrations such as celebrations for independence day, as well as at the Havana Baseball Stadium during its annual marathon. It is also rumoured that cabello sang at the funeral of Fidel Castro in 2021. A photograph of her performing at the stadium with the words, “Cheerios, Comrade Fidel” can be seen on the internet. Now it appears that she may try to secure a place in the Havana music scene.
Camila Cabello has not held a professional recording studio since the early 1980s when she was a teenager working as a telephone salesperson in Miami. She did however learn how to produce her own music in the early 1990s when she moved to her sister’s home in the Encinitas area of Los Angeles. This was to be the birth place of one of the most popular recording artists of our time, Lady Gaga. Camila then moved to Cuba, where she gained a substantial following due to her energetic guitar style and sexy appearance. In 1996 she went on to record a duet with Jose Maria Cordova for their album “Cura Camila”. Her performance of this song reached number one in the UK charts.

In January of this year Camila Cabello will be making an appearance at the Latin nightclubs and bars in New York, where she is due to premiere her second album “Haitian Serenade”. She will be performing a duet with Jose Maria and will be accompanied by the Latin bandleaders Joaquim De Los Rios and Alfredo Diaz de Leon. The duo’s set will be the first time that this duo has performed together and it is expected to be a huge success. The official track listing for the concert has yet to be confirmed but I Know What You Did Last Summer should definitely appear on the evening.
Camila’s very own music video for her single “Haitian Serenade” was recently released, providing the first glimpse of her new album. I Can See That My Heart Was In Love With Him has been released to coincide with the single’s release. A video was also released showing how Camila works alongside Miguel Domingo as well as working with both him and the other half of The Isley Brothers.
In July this year Camila will be back in Cuba along with the other main members of Havana Club, Ladies Left Back, Venezuela and Criollo. I think that Cuba will be exciting for fans of Camila and her music, especially since her second single from her album should be out before the end of this year. I hope that Camila can continue to create exciting music and make the listeners happy. I Can See That My Heart Was In Love With Him was released in the UK in October last year and went straight to number two in the charts.
