Colbie Caillat is an American rock singer-songwriter known for her hits such as “Bored to Love” and “Hips Don’t Lie.” She rose to popularity through online social networking site MySpace. At that point, she was the first of a generation of female artists to break into the lucrative recording industry. After signing to Universal Republic Records, she released her first album, Coco, in July of 2021.
Colbie Caillat is currently working on an updated version of her original singles, hoping to release it prior to the end of summer. In the meantime, we have been treated to a video for one of the songs from her latest album, which featured Caillat alone, and not her band with some other musicians. The video showed Caillat at a charity concert, giving a speech about how she decided to get into the music industry after ending up with alcohol and drug addiction problems. In the speech, she mentioned that she wanted to be a singer, but could not be because of being fired from her job as a waitress, which eventually became a reason for her drug and alcohol addiction.
In early 2021, she began working on writing music for an animated children’s television series entitled, “Dora the Explorer.” While doing so, Caillat also made time to work on writing new material for her next album. Eventually, the name of the album was “A Boy Brushed Red Living in a World of Black and White.” It will be available sometime in 2021, and possibly before the end of summer.
During the summer of 2021, Colbie Caillat was invited to perform at the “Malibu Sessions” party in Hollywood. A private party consisting of A-list celebrities was held at Universal Studios. This is where the former Disney star got to perform along with her former band-mates, including Leighton Meester, Ashanti, Skye Burch, and Nicole Richie. The event is said to have been organized by Tom Cruise and John Travolta. Colbie Caillat performed well, although many thought she lacked originality when she and other band-mates didn’t wear unique outfits.
In the fall of 2021, “Malibu” was finally released. “Malibu” became one of the biggest selling CDs of the year and was released in various formats including on-line download, double vinyl, and on compact disk. Prior to its release, “Malibu” had been recorded over six months with Leighton Meester as the only credited vocalist. Leighton Meester gave his full support for Colbie Caillat, and the singer soon became a fan.
Colbie Caillat’s voice is extremely expressive, with a high pitch and a strong timbre. Her performance on her “Malibu” debut was very successful, and fans were left breathless after watching her fantastic voice and amazing abilities on this album. Colbie Caillat has since become an overnight sensation, following her successful U.K. debut.
