Julia Roberts is a multi-faceted actress and director. A nominee for eight Academy Awards including Best Actress in a Leading Role, Julia Roberts has achieved considerable success in both the theatre and the film industry. Her numerous accolades include an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and an additional four Golden Globes. Roberts has also been nominated for anume number four times. Born in segregated Mississippi as the youngest of five children, Roberts grew up in Washington D.C.
A childhood friend of Roberts’ older sister, Annanea Pinkleton, she was inspired by the “goddesses” in their home and went on to become a model and actress in several films before landing a role as an elevator girl in the hugely popular spaghetti western, spaghetti juncture. After some time off, Roberts decided to concentrate on theatre, working on such shows as The Heartbreak Kid. After her absence, Julia Roberts was seen in more popular movies, such as the remake of Rosemary for which she received rave reviews, and the movie Pleasantville. In addition to returning to the screen in some popular roles, Julia Roberts also had a chance to star opposite some of the best actors in Hollywood. Her notable appearances include the casts of Everybody Loves Raymond, Who’s That Girl, and E.T. She also appeared in the comedy Man on the Moon, and its sequel A Beautiful Mind.
Her most famous role to date is that of Selina Kyle Cook in the film version of A Christmas Story. While many critics found the film to be substandard, Julia Roberts still received warm reviews for her work.
