Hayley Kiyoko is an American entertainer, singer, dancer and actor. Starting out as a small child modeling, Kiyoko’s love of entertaining eventually led her to a career in dancing. She has released four self-titled albums that have charted high on the independent charts. Her unique style has made her a name known in the music industry
Born in Southern California, Hayley Kiyoko was always a little behind the times. At the age of seven, her mother taught her how to read and write and she soon became a talented high school student, performing musical theater and singing. Though she had been interested in acting since childhood, it was not until she went to live in Japan that she began to understand the type of career that she would like to pursue in the future.
Her first major break came when she was cast as the lead dancer in the English version of the Japanese show called Kaikaku! She gained a reputation for her energetic dancing and exciting personality, and by the time she was sixteen she had started her first Japanese album. Hayley Kiyoko made her solo Japanese album debut in the same year as Kaikaku! The album did not do well, but it did receive attention because of its interesting story and music.
In the summer of 2021 Hayley Kiyoko went on to record an American album called Rock and Roll High School. Her previous attempts to get a career in the United States had been abortive, so this was a huge feather in her cap. Rock and Roll High School was recorded by Island/Universal and featured guests such as Christina Aguilera and J.Lo. The album was a huge success and marked the start of a career that would see her appearing on stage and recording other songs for other artists, playing both acoustic and electric guitar, and even singing live.
Then, in the spring of the following year Hayley Kiyoko took a break from performing and began to write music again. She released her second single, titled “Love is in the air.” It featured on the Australian radio station Triple J and was soon popularized in the United States. Her next single “High School Club,” also from Rock and Roll High School, was released in the United Kingdom and America. It was quickly certified platinum in Australia and United Kingdom.
Hayley Kiyoko has definitely come a long way since her early days in the Japanese high school club. She has formed her own company, earned a recording contract in the United States, released several singles and albums, and has even been seen on television. She is by all accounts a talent and an accomplished singer/songwriter who are making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
