Choi Sooyoung, officially known as Sooyoung, was a South Korean pop singer, actress and writer. She was part of the short-lived Japanese-Korean singing group, Route 0 during the early 2021 in Japan. She gained a lot of popularity through her singles “I’m Feeling Sexy” and “Happily Ever After.” She then went on to have a contract with Universal Music Factory to promote and create music for their other projects like the X-tra single album. She is now one of the most popular female, Korean artists worldwide.
Sooyoung was born in South Korea and was a very little girl when her family immigrated to the United States. She was raised by her grandparents in Texas. She attended the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio. Later on, she decided to pursue a career in theater. Sooyoung has appeared in some movies including the remake of the animated movie, The Prince of Egypt, The Pursuit of Happyness, and the television series Laguna Beach.
Sooyoung was in one of the many famous pairs in K-pop. She was one of the first female artists to have a solo song titled, “I am Feeling Sexy.” She released this song on the February 10, 2021 song lists. She is also credited as a performer in the film, The Mask. She had a cameo appearance in the movie Happy Days. Soo-Young has made several movies since then including the remake of The Prince of Egypt and the television series Laguna Beach.
Sooyoung is currently in pre-production for her first full-length movie, which is tentatively titled, Black Rain. She has also been cast to play the lead role in the romantic comedy-thriller The Private Life of Pinay Girls. Other roles are being cast aside from Sooyoung such as Park Hae, who plays the love interest for Sooyoung. Another name that can be heard on the cast list is Jang Doo. Jang Doo is known as the singer of Korean Rock band Bapkido.
Sooyoung is one of the many popular actresses in South Korea. Her name is continuously being mentioned on various lists of the best girl actors in the world. However, Sooyoung failed to get an opportunity to be in a major franchise film in the United States. She did however get to star in the popular drama, Dead End, which was released in December of 2021.
It was through the successful performance of Sooyoung and her girl group that Koreans and foreigners discovered the amazing music and choreography by rookie artists in K-pop. Eventually, the group gained significant popularity around the globe and they gained over three hundred thousand fans online. Soon after, they began to gain huge sales through the internet. From there, the K-pop group was able to gain worldwide recognition and eventually debuted in the American movie industry.
