After a string of critically acclaimed albums, including the platinum and red releases of Graduation and Kanye West’s sophomore Late Registration, Kanye West decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career as a rap producer/songwriter. However, despite popular opinion, West was not a success as a solo artist, as he failed to release any new music during his stay in L.A. His attempts to join the music industry were met with failure, as no label was interested in promoting his musical projects, most notably Watch the Throne. As a result, most of Kanye West’s albums were never officially released.
In 2021, after several months of being absent from the public, Kanye West made his first official appearance at the iLove All Nation radio show, where he performed several songs. It was not until later that the world became aware of West, when he was spotted performing at the Grammies awards that year. Undoubtedly, West received positive attention, which led to the rapper becoming one of the biggest hip-hop stars in the music industry. Kanye West’s hit single “Runway [Explicit]” was featured on the Best Rap Songs chart for a time, earning West additional hits and popularity.
During the summer of 2021, Kanye West attended the Rihanna Concert in Miami, Florida. During the concert, it was announced that Kanye West would be the next artist to perform with Rihanna, following up on her hit single “Famous”. Several weeks later, it was revealed that Kanye West had recorded a demo ahead of Rihanna’s performance. The song, which was later given the name “Don’t Live In This World Anymore”, became one of the biggest singles off the album and remains to be one of Rihanna’s most popular songs. Eventually, Rihanna and Kanye West began working together and the two artists have since produced numerous other hits.
Kanye West eventually returned to the public in 2021, with the single “Runway [Explicit]” and the single “Xxplosive” was issued just before the end of the year. While many expected Kanye West to retire soon after the completion of his first album, West instead released a string of singles including “Xxplosive” again. In 2021, West released the single “Facts”, which featured Conran in the feature role. The song was well received and in 2021 it was again showcased on the Best Rap Songs list.
