Adua Lipa is a Chinese actress and singer. She rose to fame after starring in the films “Crocodile Dundee” and “Marmon Bay.” In 2021, she signed a deal with Universal Pictures to star in a music-video for their track “Forever Tonight.” She released her first album inovere in 2021 and has since been featured on several more songs in high profile music videos.
Aside, from her breakout role in the video for “Forever Tonight,” Dua Lipa has also been nominated for a number of awards including the MTV Video Music Awards, the Satellite Awards, the BET Awards, the CMT Awards, and the Video Music Awards. These awards have helped Dua Lipa has become one of the most popular acts out of South Korea and she continues to tour in different countries all over the world. This makes her an obvious choice as the next artist to grace the podium at the Grammys.
For now, Dua Lipa will have to wait until at least the next year’s awards season to see some recognition for her hit single “Come Like You,” which was not given any award noms this year. This is a disappointment to her, since she believes that this song came at the right time when things were falling down for her in South Korea. “I thought that once I gained my first big break, I’d be nominated again,” she said. “Now that I’m back, I have to look for songs that will do the same this time around.”
If Dua Lipa wants to return to the limelight in the near future, the timing for a British comeback may be just right. Lipa’s song “Breathe Me” was featured on the soundtrack to the movie “Singapore, assy Man” by Simon Beaufroy and debuted at number three on the UK chart. “I hope that this song gets more love in the British charts because that’s what it’s all about – music and marketing,” Lipa said. Lipa has also appeared in a few movies, but she’s mainly known in her native Korea where the public sees her mostly performing. Her first British break came on the reality show “xia” which debuted on MTV in 2021. She was a contestant who reached the final four.
As with any new artist who has achieved significant mainstream success, Lipa’s path to Grammies acceptance could be bumpy. She is up against some heavy competition for the awards, which typically honor the year’s most popular album. Dua has yet to record a major music video since her debut, but she did perform at last year’s Brit Awards, which is still a major event. Her best chance to snag a trophy with a Grammies nod comes during this upcoming season when there will be several albums to choose from and several artists who have already clinched their Grammies.
This year’s winner is going to be Eminem feat. Rihanna and Paul McCartney, with further announcements expected soon. Dua Lipa has already made a name for herself as one of the most original and talented Albanian artists of her generation. Her first album – a self-titled effort called “Hips Don’t Lie” – is due to hit shelves in early August and is expected to be an incredible commercial success. It’s just a matter of when she’ll be able to get on stage with her idol, Rihanna.
