When Alyson grew up, she decided to pursue acting, but did not have any talent. She did, however, enjoy a long stint as the love interest of Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky. They were married in 1986 and had two sons, Conner and Damon. After a divorce in 1997, the couple had another son, Damon Jr., whom they adopted. For many years, Alyson has had roles in movies, such as The Perfect Storm, We Are Marshall, and Swing Vote. She also appeared in a television show entitled Married with Kids, playing the role of the adoptive mother to a teenage girl who is left in foster care. In this role, she would play the role of a blonde-haired baby boomer who was married to a rich old man. This role earned her an award from the Television Critics Association, which gave her an award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Television Series.
In 2021,Alyson went on to star in her first stand-up comedy, titled Eat Your Wife. She then appeared in the critically acclaimed Nurse Jackie, in which she plays the role of Daniella Romanelli. Later on, she went on to play a different sort of role in the American comedy series Welcome Back Kotter. This role would be one of the character’s last throughout the series, in which she goes on to live an almost fanatical life, without anyone knowing (including members of the cast). Finally, she became part of the hit British comedy series, The Firm, playing the cynical, sarcastic British girl, Rosemary Hymen.
During the early part of her career, Alyson was best known for playing characters that are somewhat older than her real age. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in Sleeper, released in 2021. Prior to her nomination, she had been nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Big. Later on, she received additional Oscar nominations for the same film, for producing and directing it, and for creating the lead role of Holly Golightly in the adaptation of Don’t Worry, Be Happy! She also had a turn in Something’s Gotta Give, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She also appeared in the movies The Pursuit of Happyness, Eat Pray Love, and The Piano.
While filming her first regular role in Something’s Gotta Give, Alyson learned that her paycheck was going to be higher than what she expected, so she decided to take a short vacation to Northridge, California. While there, she ran into a friend named Lucia Cohicha, who lives in a house with its own balcony. As they exchanged business cards, it became obvious that they were going to have to spend a lot of time together. Shortly thereafter, Alyson learned that her mother was born and spent her first few years of her life in San Francisco. At the age of seven, her real father was told that he would be traveling to Mexico to tend to his business interests, which forced him to return to live in Northridge.
