Kira Kosarin was born in Southern California, to a Jewish family that moved to New York City. Her parents were educators, but their personal experiences were much different than Jewish parenting. As a child, Kira attended Yeshiva with her mother, where she became familiar with Chabad, the most prestigious Jewish school in the country. She also had the privilege of studying under the tutelage of Rabbi Ovadah Waxman. As a teenager, she went to parties like Ginseng Experience with her friends, where she wore long skirts and wore very little makeup.
During the late 1980s, Kira Kosarin attended the Chabad Institute of Brooklyn, studying Talmud, Kabbalah, and Judaic studies. This experience prepared her for her roles in both stage and screen acting, and music. As an actress, she appeared in the musical Hair. As a singer, she sang songs on both Broadway and YouTube, such as one called “Waltz Forgot to Do It” from the movie The Nutcracker.
After some time working as an actor on TV, Kira Kosarin decided to pursue writing. She wrote her first novel, entitled Memories, in her home town of San Francisco. Her life story covers her childhood in Hungary, her parents’ separation, her graduation from Yeshivos Habush, and her time living in Los Angeles. In this book, she demonstrates her ability to draw from personal experience while writing about a contemporary situation.
In the early 2010s, Kira Kosarin began making the rounds on the popular online social media sites. Her self-directed YouTube channel gained a great deal of attention. The majority of people, however, did not know the woman behind the “kira kosarin” name. Her real name is Kyra Szabo.

In January of this year, Kira Kosarin created a viral video posted on YouTube and Twitter. In this video, she is seen speaking about the experience of being interviewed by Variety magazine. Variety held a webinar in January, which became the first webinar recorded by a live crowd. At the end of the video, a clip of someone else in the audience asks her if she has a question for the panelists after she finishes speaking. In this clip, it becomes apparent that her question was directed to director Frank Capra, who is sitting in the front row of the studio.
In response, kosarin says that she had to decline because she already had a question for him. Frank Capra, for his part, politely declines and thanks her for the question. The clip ends with the camera pointing at him and asking him what he’s going to do next. To date, that person has never identified himself as an octopus, but he is a Broadway actor playing a famous character in a Broadway play. It’s a wonder that a broadway actress would ask a question about a recording producer, considering that her entire profession is built on networking, but there it is.
