Debbie Messing is an American actor. After graduating from New York University`s Tisch School of the Arts, Messing only received small-ish roles on TV shows including Ned and Stacey on Fox and Prey at ABC. However, after a breakout performance in the movie 300 she was discovered by producers of films directed by Steven Spielberg and came to Hollywood with the intention of appearing in major movies.
For her role in The Thin Red Line she had to travel across the world for her first acting job. She arrived in New York City and was in line to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the crime thriller Traffic. While filming her first film, she managed to land a small role in the movie rendition of Moby Dick. The next film to feature Debra Messing was the crime drama Confessing Girl, in which she played a divorcing wife accused of being involved in an affair with a fellow officer. The film became a box office smash, not only in New York but throughout the USA. Its sequel, The Fall, went on to become a number one film in Canada and the UK.
Over the past few years Debra Messing has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the hit sitcom Grace. She previously served as a guest star on another groundbreaking comedy series for FX called It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The actress also had a memorable role on the television series Seinfeld, playing the mother of a young boy who was played by Jerry Seinfeld.
