However, Amber Heard was most popular in Hollywood as the wife of John Travolta, whom she married in 1986. The two had a son, Michael, in 1990. In 1992, Amber Heard was sued by the Washington Post for making an untrue statement in a deposition. Amber Heard settled the case with the help of a Washington Post article that falsely reported her statements during a deposition. That article was eventually discredited by both parties. The Washington Post, along with other media sources, incorrectly reported Heard’s statements regarding a Washington Post interview where she discussed a sexual encounter she had with a male prostitute. Amber Heard filed a libel case against the Washington Post and Niccolai Weil, the author of the Washington Post article, in an effort to obtain financial damages for false and malicious accusations.
During the late months of 2021, Amber Heard went to the rehab center in Beverly Hills to seek treatment for her alcoholism. According to the Times, a representative from the rehab center contacted her about the pending lawsuit and informed her that the lawsuit would be filed in two weeks. Amber Heard made several comments to the Times reporters regarding the lawsuit. On one occasion, she referred to the incident as “consensual sex”.
During the fall of 2021, The National Enquirer published an article that quoted an individual who said Amber Heard had was staying at rehab in order to receive therapy. A former friend of Heard’s told the news group newspapers that Heard has not taken any medication prescribed by a doctor in order to deal with her addiction to alcohol. Several lawyers, according to the news group newspapers, said that the statements by the former friend were inconsistent with the facts. Additionally, The National Enquirer story did not mention that the woman who gave the information to the news group was herself a former alcohol addict. Amber Heard has denied making any statements to the news group newspapers regarding a rehab trip.
