It was then that Tiffany decided to form his own company by selling his hand-made glassware and jewelry. It was here that he would begin his lifelong friendship with the very wealthy, an era which would produce some of his most successful masterpieces.

Louis Tiffany is a very complex and intriguing character. He was courted diligently by the British nobility and was sought after by Queen Victoria for his exceptionally beautiful and intricate jewelry pieces. He was also highly respected by the Russian royal family and became the personal physician to Tsar Nicholas II. Louis Tiffany had a great love of art and culture, traveling extensively throughout Europe and holding collections of art exhibitions. His travels led him to Rome, and he would often purchase expensive works of art for his private libraries. It was while he lived in Paris that he would start to dabble in interior design and would set up his own studio in his favorite Gothic building. Although his lack of formal training was apparent, his sense of vision and creativity would allow him to develop an extremely successful business in both fields.

Tiffany’s life is full of fascinating details, ranging from his humble background to his associations with the highest and most noble families in Europe. It is clear that his greatest love would be for the art and craft of jewelry, with a particular fondness for designs created during the renaissance period. His workshops in Paris and his vast collection of chandeliers and ceiling fans demonstrate this passion. It is also clear that he was greatly interested in preserving European history, seeing it as a way of preserving the heritage of his people. One of his biographers wrote that he felt the need to record this history in writing, and so created biographies of key personalities in European history, painting these portraits as large-scale models.

His life was full of achievements and he was equally successful in his business ventures. He invented the incense cone and light bulb. He designed the world’s first Opera House and built the world’s largest clock. All these inventions were made possible by his keen observations of stained glass, furniture, architecture, and lighting.

The Tiffany lamp has gone on to become an icon of American culture. Its fame is not unique. Other great American designers such as Thomas Edison, Eliphant Trowton and John Pierpont worked with a designer named Samuel Simon. His story provides inspiration for us today in the way that innovative thinking can take shape in any circumstances.
