Cohen has said that she felt deeply honored when she was asked to be a legal assistant for the late King in his last days. King loved her as much as she loved him. She worked with King in many of his final activities including negotiating the Historic Dry Creek Compilation Rights Act with Congress. She was also responsible for the preparation of letters advising peacekeepers to protect blacks in occupied areas. She was also a valued confidante to King when he was being hospitalized and even into his last days.

The biographer also writes that Cohen was a very good friend of Larry Aldrich, who was the former owner of the now infamous nightclub, nightclubs such as the Sunset Strip, Liquor store, the Fillmore, and others. When he died, Cohen paid for his own funeral. It is alleged that after her death, the nightclubs were sold and Aldrich became the main shareholder of the now-shuttered New York nightclub, nightclubs Daisy, and nightclub Icon.
