Nokia Lumia Review – Why it is So Affordable Nokia has just launched the Nokia Lumia smartphones in India. It’s the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device available yet does the smartphone really make substantial compromises to reach this low price tag? Or is it just a good value purchase? In this Nokia Lumia review we take a detailed look at the hardware, the software and Nokia’s unique tie-in with high end hotels in India. Let’s see if this smartphone lives up to the billing.
The Nokia Lumina line up is Nokia’s attempt at creating a smartphone that takes the best elements of the iPhone and iPad combined in a smartphone designed to attract the young generation. With its 5.2 inch HD display it’s clearly one of the bigger Lumina phones, and like many of the big name smartphones it runs on a full Windows interface. But does it achieve its goal? In this Nokia Lumia review we take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of the handset.
This is the beauty of a smartphone: it’s never been easier to expand the life of the battery. Nokia Lumina models have been equipped with certain features that allow the battery to be charged more often than usual. These include : On board memory (expanded from sixteen to twenty four megabytes), MMC card, wifi, microSD slot, infrared sensor, dual camera, video recording, USB drive, gaming support, voice calling, data backup, factory unlock,… and that’s just for starters.
As well as the above mentioned features the Nokia Lumina also has some attractive features which differentiate it from other Windows Phones. It has a very attractive soft-touch interface, which will not appeal to everyone. There are no extra icons, and most applications are designed to operate as smoothly as possible in portrait mode. However the biggest selling point for the Lumina is its excellent display quality. It features a high definition screen which is easy to see in either direct sunlight or low light.
Nokia Lumina models run Windows Phone OS 2.2, the latest version, which is not the same as the older Windows Mobile models. The new Lumina models also run on Windows CE, although it isn’t quite as popular. If you’re looking for a phone which has a lot of features but runs on one of the best platforms then the Lumina series might be a great choice. It has the ability to connect up to six devices via the Bluetooth connection making it ideal if you want to keep several different mobile phones at different locations at the same time. Nokia Lumina also allows you to use the Windows Live Tile application to access your favourite social networking sites.
Nokia Lumina models have some very useful Nokia Lumina apps loaded up on the phones. Some of these apps can easily be found on other Lumina handsets, but the app variety is really quite limited. Nokia Lumina 735 apps include Moxier calculator, Weather balloon, the Taekwondo game, the Speed dialer, and much more. You should be able to find any app you need on any Lumina phone no matter where it’s located.
