Ted’s seedy underground persona is defined by a series of catch phrases, one of which is “Wherever you go, there’s another geek watching you”. In the first season of the show Ted was dating and working with a series of artists who were destroying San Francisco’s downtown sprawl. One of these artists was played by Rob Reiner, who happens to be an executive producer of the sitcom You Are What You Eat. One of the characters, a young doctor, was going after Ted’s ex-girlfriend, Rachel Berry (Vanessa Williams). At the time, Rachel (ballet dancer turned lawyer) worked with Ted as a personal bodyguard.

The relationship between Ted and Rachel progressed until they were lovers. When Ted got fired from a job because of a domestic dispute with his then-wife, he went on a crazy killing spree killing 6 people in San Francisco. Luckily, Ted had a very strong support system, which included his friend Artie (Damon Runyan), his daughter Rachel (selves are half blonde British), and his boss Earl (John Mahoney). This support network bonded Ted and Rachel in a powerful bond that overcame anything that Ted might have felt was holding him back. The writers of the sitcom Married Couple have cited this as one of the biggest reasons why Ted became such a funny actor – he became a human proxy for the audience as he took on these incredible characters.

Ted was able to reinvent himself and really make his mark on television by playing the nerdy sidekick in the best known roles of his career. After several short stints in Hollywood, Ted began to play larger and more significant roles in films like Grease, Dumb And Dumber, and Saturday Night Fever. He also appeared in a number of TV shows, including Leave Me Before You Sleep, Roseanne, and numerous others. There is no doubt that Ted is one of the funniest actors of our times, and that he would continue to find success in various genres of screen acting throughout the remainder of his career.
