Jasmine Thompson

Jasmine Thompson is an American singer and songwriter best known for her work with artists such as Lady Gaga and Kanye West. She started her musical career at the tender age of thirteen by recording herself performing at a small talent show. Her first major break came with the release of her self-titled debut album, which went straight to number one in the UK. Following this she went on to form part of the band Happy Mondays. From there her profile gradually increased and by the end of 2021 she was signed to Atlantic Records. In January 2021 she released her second album, titled Sleep Talk, which featured production from The Arctic Monkeys and was met with critical acclaim.

In the summer of 2021, Jasmine Thompson went on to form the popular band The Weeknd with partner Dayana Mendoza. After their first album was released in August, they went on to become the most popular act in the United Kingdom. Although the group failed to impress the chart figures with their sophomore album, it did manage to make a number one in the United Kingdom. A further six months later the group made a string of highly successful singles, including One Night Tonight which reached number three in the United Kingdom. They went on to enjoy a string of singles including I Lie To You, I Know, Human by Oneohtrix (collaborations with Rihanna), and Instinct (with Bieber) before releasing their album A Perfectyrence later in the year.

On the face of it, these seem like little things by Jasmine Thompson. However, to a seasoned marketer who has been promoting young age groups for many years, the fact that she is able to retain and build such a large following so quickly speaks volumes about her business acumen. In fact, over the last few years she has built such a large following that it seems she has come to be seen as a real live representation of the music industry. Her live shows are known to sell out thousands of seats every single time, proving just how popular she is both artistically and commercially. This only goes to show you that there is definitely a market for the types of music she is putting out. Twenty years ago, it would have been impossible for Jasmine to achieve the same level of success with the kind of music she is putting out now.

Jasmine first rose to prominence when she was featured in the very first issue of GQ magazine under the title “The Girls That Follow You Around”. The single that she was featured in was called Baby Did a Bad Thing, and was quickly embraced by teenage girls around the world. This single became one of the biggest successes of the year, as well as one of the biggest releases of the decade. The reason for this was largely down to the vocals of Jasmine, who managed to create a unique sound that wasn’t common amongst female vocalists at the time. This single is still being played regularly today, as well as featuring on numerous other albums.

The single that propelled Jasmine to stardom was Everybody’s Favorite First Ladies, which was also released in February of 2021. The single was a massive success, with both male and female fans of all ages singing along to its memorable chorus. The song is about the many different First Ladies who have been elected into office throughout the United States (in order of seniority), including Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Eleanor Roosevelt. As someone who has sat behind these popular First Ladies, I can honestly say that Jasmine has a unique perspective and way of sharing her thoughts and emotions through her music. This single has also gone onto be a number 1 hit for the store that launched it, Walmart.

Finally, in November of 2021, Jasmine successfully landed her debut album. The album is titled simply Jasmine, and it is anticipated to be one of the biggest selling albums of the decade. It is due to be one of the best-selling independent releases in the history of the music industry, selling over eight million copies in the first week alone. In fact, it is expected to sell over ten million copies in the second week alone, setting a new record for the best selling independent release in the history of the CD.
