Debbie Gibson’s musical influences are many. She has said that she was inspired by Patti LaBelle when she was growing up in Southern California. Her dream came true when she was invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in January of 1985, where she performed alongside such well-known performers as David Bowie, Ray Vaughan and the Rolling Stones.

Debbie Gibson has also had a long career in the modeling industry. She was one of the very first models to try out for the cast of the popular soap opera Madam Marlowe, where she was known for her long, slender body. After that she appeared in various ad campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, Wheaties, JCPenny, Levi’s and finally Barbie. While on a European promotional tour for JCPenny she was bitten by a cobra, which resulted in her contracting rabies, an extremely serious disease in which victims lose muscle control and may die within four to six weeks. She recovered nicely, but never lost hope, and in the end managed to successfully complete the ad campaign for JCPenny.

If one were to compile a list of Debbie Gibson’s accomplishments, it would certainly include the fact that she was the very first female artist to sign to Muscle Head Records, a label that has since become synonymous with amazing musics, great vocals and guitar work, as well as having the most successful album of all time, the self-titled album, released in 1996. Additionally Debbie Gibson was also the second female artist to feature on Hot 100 chart, the feat being done by outgoing singer Beyonce Knowles. A feat that not even Queen Latifah or Oprah Winfrey were able to accomplish.

Debbie had managed to impress both herself and those around her with her voice, and her amazing guitar work. Her dreamy voice has yet to be heard on any mainstream charts, but due to its successful release on the independent label Epic, her dream is now becoming a reality.
