Bregje Heinen is an actress and model from the Netherlands. She is best known for playing the character of Stella Gibson in the award-winning Netflix show The Dark. Bregje studied acting at the Amsterdam Film School before becoming a popular TV presenter in her native Netherlands. Her career as an actress spans over four decades.
Bregje was born in Rotterdam, the largest city in the Netherlands, to parents who were both teachers. She grew up in the city and was an avid tennis player throughout her childhood. Bregje attended the exclusive private girl’s school, the Royal Academy of Dancing, while in secondary school. She dropped out after just one year and began pursuing a modeling career in the Netherlands, though it would take her several years before she landed any contracts. Bregje first became famous when she appeared on the Dutch national television program “Drimmage” where she displayed her stunning dancing skills and garnered attention from viewers in the process. Since then, Bregje has gone on to appear in other popular programs such as Top Girl, Fatboy Slim, and How I Met Your Mother.
Bregje has maintained a busy and interesting personal life throughout the years. She married a fellow actor and dancer, Martine Vermeer, in 2005. Bregje spent three years as the wife of Martin Van De Graaff, but the two soon separated and Bregje now lives with her second husband. Bregje is still married to Van De Graaff and has one child, Marlene. Bregje then went on to join the casts of various other popular television programs including Judge Judy, Deal or No Deal, Trading Spaces, and End of Watch before becoming a permanent cast member of the recurring soap opera, De Molen. Bregje’s experience on stage and screen allowed her to gain many acting awards including the Best Actress award at the Amsterdam International Film Festival in 2004.
Bregje has stayed active in her acting career and throughout the years she has appeared in some movies, such as Armani Man and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and also contributed articles to several well-known international newspapers. Bregje is known to be open and friendly in her private life, but she maintains a very discreet public persona. Bregje has always maintained that she is not into the affair, however she admitted to having an extramarital affair with one of her employees while she was working for another company. She claimed that she felt guilty for bringing down the business through her affair with this employee, yet she still felt that she had a great time while they were together and had nothing to regret about her decision to end the relationship.
Bregje has kept up a great exercise and fitness regime since retiring from the film industry. Her biceps are still as prominently shown as they were when Bregje was in her twenties. Bregje spent four years in her native Holland as a student before retiring to Los Angeles. Bregje currently lives in Bakersfield, California.
