In her movie The Thin Red Line, Anne Heche plays the role of Holly Golightly, a young girl from Ohio who becomes disillusioned with the war when her father decides to go into business for himself instead of joining the army. This causes a rift between them, as he resents her attempts to be a good mother and puts her on the payroll of his own company. After learning that her father has been seriously injured in combat, Anne decides to visit him in the hospital, but he dies before she gets there. The next day, her aunt tells her that she can visit him in his bed and give him the final gift he requested: a singing box. However, when she does, it appears that the voice inside the box is that of a man named Richard Castellano, who’s the former father-in-law of Holly’s mother. When she tries to open the box, it starts to glow, implying that it’s some sort of a spiritual item.

Anne Heche then continued to star in four additional films, The Desolate Area, Dark Fire, Leaving Lukens, and Requiem for a Princess. Her latest, The Winter Night Dreamer, was released in 2021 and went on to win several awards, including an Academy Award for Best Costume Design. The Winter Night Dreamer also served as the basis for the screenplay for the feature film The Nightmare Before Christmas, which starred Tim Burton. Although the film didn’t receive any Oscar nominations, Anne Heche still managed to score a number of additional awards including the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Leading Role, the Video Music Awards, the Satellite Award for Outstanding Achievement in Feature Film, and the presto!
