Diana Ross Measurements: Body, Bra, Waist, Hips, & Shoe Size

Diana Ross Measurements:

Diana Ross was born in segregated white neighborhoods in Mississippi during the late parts of the 1950s. Her childhood was marked by abuse, poverty and the occasional death of a loved one. Diana Ross grew up in a tough neighborhood in Detroit, where she experienced the racism and injustice that were a huge part of life for her family. When she was a teenager, her mother would often leave the young Diana with a babysitter so that she could have a chance to learn to stand on her own. This was not easy for a young woman growing up in the Deep South, much less in Michigan. Her mother repeatedly had to drop off the young girl to care for her younger siblings when she went to work, and when she returned, was forced to do the same.

Diana Ross’ path to stardom was short – four singles including the duet “My Old School” hit on both the pop and jazz charts. The following single, “Tears in Heaven,” was just as successful as the previous single, but this time it reached the top of the charts. Ross didn’t stay in Detroit for long; she eventually moved to New York City and joined the group that would become the Yardbirds. The band’s next release, their self-titled album, was not a hit. Its lead single, “Sense of Adventure,” was a hit around the country and was the first single that could be considered a true pop single.

Diana Ross would record a handful of singles that were hits including “What’s My Name” and “Give Me the Reason.” Her second album, The First Step, featured the single “I Remember You.” The album featured several duets with fellow artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, James Morrison and Luther Vandross. All of these singles went Top Ten in the United States.

Dita Von Teese’s “Old Boots, New Clothes” was another album that topped the charts. This album featured hits such as “ivated” and “Hips Don’t Lie.” The single “Hips Don’t Lie” also peaked at number one in the UK. “Old Boots” was the last album featuring Diana Ross and did not receive any singles charting. She decided to call it quits after that album and concentrate on her acting career.

When it was time to make a comeback, Diana Ross signed with Meco and the Do-Wod album was released. This time around, “Hips Don’t Lie” was not on the singles list. It didn’t receive much radio play either. However, “Old Boots” made a return and was the first new single in over a year to debut at number one in the US music charts. The song became a huge hit, going double platinum in the US and was another sign of a comeback for the Lady.

Diana Ross has been nominated for Grammys in a number of categories over the years, including Best Female Artist. She has also won multiple awards for her work in both movies and music. Her credits also include: Old Boots, Old Cream Soda, Thank God I’m A Country Girl, Blowin’ In The Wind, Grease Live, etc. Her tenacity, determination, and originality have all kept her from being another washed-out diva like many before her.
